No plastic, no pain
Period.
What´s all the fuss about?
Our menstrual cup is made of high-quality medical-grade silicone, ensuring both durability and safety. But what sets our menstrual cup apart from the others is the ability to end with menstrual pain.
Our idea is to develop a silicone cup that is similar to existing menstrual cups, but with hollow walls that can be filled with medication for an anti-inflammatory effect absorbed by the vaginal mucosa! The cup would be filled using a syringe or a similar device to those already used for vaginal cream applicators.
With each use, the cup would be loaded with the cream medication, which would then be absorbed by the mucosa through the pores of the device. The cup could be used with or without medication, making it versatile!
It's worth noting that there is already a formulation of vaginal administration ibuprofen, the anti-inflammatory mentioned above, called Ginenorm, but it has different indications from the treatment of dysmenorrhea.
But how does it work?

The problems we tackle:
Menstrual pain affects a significant percentage of the female population, causing discomfort and often disrupting daily activities. While there are various treatments available, they can be costly, come with side effects, and may not be accessible to everyone.
A menstrual cup that can effectively address menstrual pain would be an affordable and non-invasive solution for millions of women worldwide.
In addition, the environmental impact of disposable menstrual products such as pads and tampons is a growing concern. Menstrual cups are a more sustainable alternative, as they can last for several years and produce much less waste. However, the pain-relieving properties of a menstrual cup would make it an even more attractive option for those who prioritize both their health and the environment.
Overall, the development of a menstrual cup with pain-relieving properties has significant potential to positively impact the lives of women and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Our menstrual cup project is very sustainable, as it promotes a reusable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional disposable menstrual products. By using a menstrual cup, women can reduce their waste and carbon footprint, while also saving money in the long run.
Additionally, the cup's ability to alleviate menstrual pain provides a natural and non-invasive solution to a common issue experienced by many women. This can potentially reduce the use of over-the-counter pain medications, which can have negative environmental impacts if disposed of improperly.
Overall, the combination of sustainability and health benefits makes this menstrual cup project a promising and worthwhile innovation for women's health and environmental consciousness.

What are the benefits?
This project has the potential to significantly impact women's health and well-being. This innovative concept not only provides pain relief but is also environmentally friendly, reducing waste and being cost-effective in the long run. While developing such a product will require significant research and development, the potential benefits make it a worthwhile pursuit. If proven effective, this product could be a game-changer for millions of women who suffer from menstrual pain each month.
How we got here, and our objectives:
Our menstrual cup project is not just about providing a solution for a more sustainable and comfortable period, but it's also about promoting menstrual health awareness and involving the community in our mission.
We believe that the menstrual experience should not be a taboo topic and should be discussed openly. We want to encourage conversations about menstrual health, menstrual pain, and sustainable menstruation practices. By doing so, we hope to reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation and promote a more inclusive and supportive community for menstruating individuals.
As part of our effort to promote menstrual health awareness, we have collaborated with healthcare professionals such as Dr. Carlos Aguiar Veríssimo, Dr. Carlos Marques, and Dr. Cristina Marques from Cintramédica, as well as doctors from the Child and Women's Health Department at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, who believe this project is feasible.

We have conveyed our message through our slogan : "No plastic, no pain. Period.". We aim to improve the menstrual experience for individuals and to promote a more sustainable and comfortable period.
